Figure Drawing

This section pertains to my studies done on the subject of the human (and sometimes animal) figure. As a character artist, I place great importance on this subject, and so with the years I've attempted to form the habit of, if not constant, at least occasional time spent on gesture studies of the figure. These are of varied levels of refinement. Sometimes I experiment with different mediums, sometimes I focus on different aspects of interest (shadows, form, flow, anatomy etc), sometimes, in rare occasions, I get the chance to draw a figure in real life. Regardless of variations, though, the mains focus is the same: the naturalistic representation of the figure in 2d space. Bellow, you'll find these studies categorized by year.

Idea Generation

I'm of the school of thought that everything is a skills, and almost everyone can learn almost any skill. And as an artist, this includes things like "creativity" and "imagination". Therefore, "creativity" should be seen as a skill like any other, and "inspiration" can be learned through the right methodology. In this section I'm focused on the search for tools, frameworks, and methods that allow for the generation of quality visual concepts. Included are general essays on the purposes of art, and reading annotations on relevant books, and sometimes excercises from those books or courses.

Hand Control

Drawing is a physical activity, not juch an intellectual one. Drawing puts several muscles to work, and requires a very material improvement of hand-to-eye coordination. I'm looking to dump in this section things like calligraphy and handlettering, inking textures, and warm-up scribbling.

Master's Copies

Is it possible to have in one's art the force of Rubens, the wit of , the sensibility of Degas, the mystique of whistler, the charm of Van Gogh, the stylsness of Lempicka, the influence of Franzetta, the intellignece of Doré, the precision of Durer, or the endless virtues of so many other great artists that came before us? I mean, probably not... but why not try, right?
In this section you'll find my studies of other artists's works. Properly credited and annotated with the lessons learned.Lorem ipsum dolor sit, amet consectetur adipisicing elit.
